Finally Our Last Year

Okay so I'm pretty stoked to be a senior. But being a student and Rocklin has been a slight disappointment. We do have a great campus and should be very thankful for everything we have. As incoming Freshman in 2005 we had high expectations of new-found freedoms. And the past three years our freedoms have been taken away one by one. I understand the administration wants their students to be safe and whatnot but I think we should have to learn on our own instead of being so sheltered we are no longer able to think for ourselves. Rocklin has amazing teachers and they, for the most part, are carefree and let us as students be individuals. I think it is more of the disipline techs and vice principals trying to control their students. I'm definitely not looking forward to dealing with the new rules I know will hold students back from being independent. Oh Rocklin High...

Abortion

This 2008 Presidential Election has stirred up plenty of controversies, one of which being abortions being legalized. I used to be pro-life, however I firmly believe in having the option of abortion. We as Americans supposedly live in the "Land of the Free" so why not be able to choose? The fetus is not a human, just a mass of tissue so it should not be looked down upon as murder. Every child should be a wanted child. A child shouldn't be brought into the world as a "mistake". A woman should be able to control her own body. Abortion must be kept legal, especially for all the rape and incest pregnancies. If abortion is outlawed women will be forced to go to back-alley abortion clinics. Aborting unwanted children reduces the number of abused children. After viewing and analyzing both candidates opinions, I believe Obama will give women more respect in making life changing decisions.
